An analysis of the literature on surface runoff found that the vast majority of them in the area focused on estimates of melting water and surface mass balance. The analysis of climatic characteristics of surface runoff based on ERA-5 data corresponds to scientific ideas about the physical processes that form surface runoff in the study region. Preliminary estimates of the relationship of surface runoff with the main meteorological values that may affect it, according to the ERA-5 reanalysis in the period 1991-2020 in the Antarctic Peninsula showed a closer relationship with air temperature and long- and short-wave incoming radiation on the surface than with precipitation. According to the results of PolarWRF modeling, for the considered cases of prolonged and intense precipitation in April 2021, the maximum surface runoff corresponds to the windward side of the islands and the coast of the Antarctic Peninsula, namely its glaciers, and the leeward side of the Larsen ice shelf. The analyzed periods and intensities of precipitation according to observations and measurements at the station correspond to the results of the PolarWRF model, which confirms its ability to reproduce physical processes in the atmosphere from cloud and precipitation to the formation of surface runoff and snow cover.
