In particular, efficiency analysis has been performed of an algorithm that provides a constant false alarm rate in radar detection of stationary Gaussian signal against a normal noise background with unknown or varying intensity. An algorithm has been developed for detection of radar targets moving with a constant acceleration. The gain in the signal-to-noise ratio, that the suggested algorithm provides as compared with the use of the classic coherent radar techniques, has been estimated. The reason has been clarified for the discrepancy between the real and announced in the literature levels of sidelobe suppression in the optimal filter of chirp-pulse compression using standard window functions. Based on the performed analysis recommendations have been developed as for selecting window function parameters in the case of small signal duration-bandwidth products. Based on the results of a comparative analysis of the spectra of optical emission reflected by clusters of spherical particles and solitary particle, a technique has been suggested for discriminating aggregate structures from solitary scatterers. Quick computer codes have been constructed for calculating opposition effects for media consisting of arbitrary randomly oriented scatterers. A new finite-difference technique has been suggested for solving 3D nonstationary problems of electromagnetic wave scattering by periodic structures and solitary irregularities that include elements with nonlinear properties. The obtained results can be used by national and foreign research institutes that are involved in the development of methods and techniques for environmental diagnostics, investigation of astrophysical objects and construction of artificial meta-materials with unusual properties.
