The object of research is the production of biogas from different types of raw materials and different capacities of biogas stations and installations. The purpose of the work is to substantiate the theoretical aspects of biogas production from crops and crop and livestock waste in the energy supply system of rural areas. Research methods – the theoretical and methodological basis of the study is a systematic approach, as well as the fundamental provisions of socio-economic, sustainable development and regional economy, legislative and regulatory activities, which allowed to comprehensively consider aspects of biogas production. The research tasks were solved using a number of general scientific and specific methods and approaches, in particular: abstract-logical, including analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, method of system analysis, economic-statistical, SWOT-analysis, graphical and logical generalization. As a result of calculations of the potential of biogas production from agricultural waste at Pysarivka LLC, it was determined that the theoretical potential of agricultural waste (crop and livestock) for biogas production is 3323302,8 m3. Given that the biogas contains an average of 35% of carbon dioxide and other gases, after purification, the amount of biomethane obtained from primary waste from crop and livestock will be 2160146,26 m3 of biomethane, which is identical in physical and chemical properties to natural gas.
