Information × Registration Number 0222U003043, 0119U102025 , R & D reports Title Elaboration of tape casting technique for ceramic fuel cell production. popup.stage_title Head Brodnikovskyi Yehor M., Registration Date 17-02-2022 Organization Institute of Problems of Materials Science named after IM Frantsevich of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2 The project was devoted to the development of tape casting technique for manufacturing anodes of Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC); synthesis and study of properties of zirconia stabilized with 10-mol. % Ytterbium oxide (10YbSZ), 10-mol. % of Europium oxide (10EuSZ), 10-mol. % Gadolinium oxide (10GdSZ), and 10-mol. % of Samarium oxide (10SmSZ) and compared to traditional electrolyte material 8YSZ (zirconia stabilized with 8-mol. % Yttrium oxide). The properties of electrolyte samples based on the YScCeSZ system (zirconium dioxide stabilized with triple yttrium, scandium and cerium oxides) were also studied. The tape casting technique for manufacturing SOFC anode tapes based on the newly developed Ukranian zirconia powder has been developed. The optimal composition of the suspension and the parameters of its casting, which allow to produce defect-free tapes, were found. The step-by-step lamination of the anode tapes provides to eliminate residual cavities between the tapes. As a result, the possibility of the tape delamination during sintering was reduced. The annealing modes in order to remove organic components and sintering of the planar half-cells have been developed. The properties of the initial powders determine the structure of ceramic samples. Thus, to compare the values of electrical conductivity for zirconia samples with different porosity, the value of electrical conductivity was calculated for their compact state by using equation of V. Skorokhod. It was found that at the temperature range 600-800 °С the specific electrical conductivity of 8YSZ ceramic samples is higher in comparison with 10YbSZ, 10EuSZ, 10GdSZ, 10SmSZ ones.
