The theoretical analysis of the anisotropic effect of GMR has been performed using the phenomenological approach. In the case when the thickness of the cover magnetic layer is much smaller (greater) than the thickness of the base layer, the effect of GMR is negligible due to the shunting the resistance of the cover resistance (base resistance) of the base metal layer (resistance cover metal layer). If the thicknesses of the magnetic layers are commensurate in the magnitude, the GMR effect reaches its maximum value due to the lack of the shunt effect.
