Purpose – historiographical analysis of literature of the Anti-terrorist operation and Joint Forces Operation history (2014 – 2020). The object of research is historical literature and materials that reflect the history of the Antiterrorist operation and the Joint Forces Operation in Eastern Ukraine in 2014-2020. Methods – the dialectical method is used to study the theoretical / practical aspects during the military aggression of the Russian Federation; method of sociohistorical research, method of conducting interviews with ATO participants; statistical method; method of documentary analysis; sociological – in the analysis of sociological materials; comparative and modeling – to develop proposals and recommendations for the use of historical literature in the educational process of the Hetman Petro Sahaidachny National Army Academy. Results – analyzed historiography on the origins of the Russian Federation expansionist policy on the invasion to Ukraine, revealed coverage in the domestic historiography of the initial stage of Russia's aggression against Ukraine, the capture of Crimea and the occupation of Donbass; the reflection in the historiography of hostilities of 2014-2020 is clarified; prepared recommendations for military-historical science on the development and study of the Russian-Ukrainian war 2014–2020, conducted a search, historiographical and source analysis and scientific study of literature on the history of ATO – JFO in Eastern Ukraine (2014 – 2020), concluded bibliography of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
