It was found that in the case of VDW of TiAlNb and Ti2AlNb alloys without interlayer, defects in the form of pores are observed in the joint zone, and a layer of brittle phase Al(Nb,Ti)2 is formed. It is shown that the use of Ti–Ni–Nb NF with a titanium content of ~50 (weight %) as interlayer at optimum mode of VDW allows to receive defect-free joints of gamma- and ortho-aluminides of titanium. It was found that the RBW of gamma- and ortho-aluminides of titanium to titanium using NF Ti/Al promotes localization of heat in the contact zone, activation of welded surfaces, and provides the formation of defect-free dissimilar joints with a significant reduction in heating time.
