The authors describe four models of the rating system: American, German, Dutch and Ukrainian. Researchers conducted a secondary analysis of mass all-Ukrainian surveys conducted by the Laboratory of Psychology of Mass Communication and Media Education from 2007 to 2021 and identified a common basis for building a scientific construct of media psychological examination. This scientific paper first identified and described the scientific construct of media psychological expertise as a system of psychological research of media products to determine its general characteristics, describe media influences on the audience, identify potential media risks it contains for minors, using a clear procedure based on professional knowledge of a media psychologist. Employees of the Laboratory of Psychology of Mass Communication and Media Education analyzed and described six successful cases of forming expert opinions on public inquiries about the analysis of media products and formed six scientifically sound criteria for inflicting harm on audiovisual products to minors. The most valuable achievement of this scientific work is the development of the algorithm of the procedure of media psychological expertise to ensure the reliability of its results, implemented in the Standard Protocol of media psychological expertise.
