The focus is on relevant information in encyclopedias in terms of creating a common image of Ukraine, its territory, history, etc., ie one that affirms Ukrainian statehood. The emergence of a coronavirus pandemic at the end of 2019 was an unexpected challenge for the humanities, demonstrating the rapid and global spread of unverified information that directly influences the decision-making of large masses of people about health. This is a significant motive to study the information on COVID-19 placed in encyclopedias. It is concluded that encyclopedic publications are important tools for shaping public opinion. In particular, we are convinced of this by the example of the analysis of Russian encyclopedias, in which, contrary to the objectivity and reliability of encyclopedic knowledge, Crimea is treated as legitimate Russian territory, consistent with the official propaganda of the Russian Federation. Therefore, in Ukrainian encyclopedias, as well as in other popular sources of information, there is an urgent need for in-depth coverage for the general public of issues that would provide more than objective data on Crimea, Donbas, other historical lands, a number of historical figures, facts, etc. but would focus on refuting the misinformation that exists in foreign encyclopedias.
