The aim: determination of oncologists’ emotional burnout syndrome using the study of secondary stress processes. Research methods: psychodiagnostic, questionnaire, socio-demographic, statistical-mathematical. Theoretical and practical results: all examined oncologists were concluded to have had a high "Personal borders violation" scale level, recorded at 93,75% among oncological surgeons, 87,5% - for chemotherapists, and 81,82% - for radiation therapists. Chemotherapists’ overall rate of emotional burnout was found to be significantly higher than the rate of the other oncologists and the comparison group. The formation of the second phase of emotional burnout "Resistance" was detected within the group of chemotherapists. According to the "Emotional Exhaustion" scale, 25,00% of chemotherapists had a high level, it was twice as often as oncology surgeons (12,50%) and almost three times more often than radiotherapists (9,09%). The data obtained indicate the urgent need for psychological support for chemotherapists using supervision to prevent the symptoms of emotional burnout. Novelty: for the first time in Ukraine, the appearance of oncologists’ secondary stress at different stages of cancer therapy has been studied. There is a positive trend and secondary stress risk within the group of radiotherapists having the average level of this indicator twice as much as the other groups of oncologists. It indicates the need for radiotherapists’ training to prevent the risk of secondary stress in the workplace.
