The object of research is transient electromagnetic processes in power traction circuits of direct current transport electric drives. The purpose of the work is the comparative characteristics and adaptation of existing methods of analysis of non-stationary processes to the calculation of transient electromagnetic processes in the power circuits of direct current transport electric drives, taking into account the deterministic and stochastic nature of changes in traction voltages and currents. Research methods – the theory of the automated electric drive, theoretical aspects of the operation of DC traction electric motors, methods of calculating nonlinear electric and magnetic circuits, methods of solving systems of deterministic and stochastic differential equations, operator method of analysis of transient processes. An analysis of continuous operational and possible emergency modes of operation of traction electric drives of direct current electric rolling stock was carried out. Corresponding transient electromagnetic processes due to the specified regimes have been established. Existing methods of calculating deterministic and stochastic electromagnetic processes in power traction circuits of transport electric drives are analyzed. Comparative characteristics of analytical methods of analysis are presented in detail. The theoretical aspects, basis of development and methodology of application of new methods are given: the method of transformation of variables, the method of DT-transformations and the method of magnetoelectric substitution schemes, the method of the Duhamel integral, the method of statistical linearization, the Monte Carlo method.
