The object of the study was the biotopes of the branch of the Ukrainian Steppe Nature Reserve "Cretaceous Flora" (Donetsk region). The purpose of the work was the development of methodological approaches to the development of a scheme of a local ecological network and determination of its priority in the structure of the national ecological network of Ukraine based on a comparative assessment of the ecological potential of territories. The task of the research was a comprehensive assessment of the ecological potential and sociological assessment of the biotopes of the key territory of local eco-networks. Research methods – field studies of the species composition of phytogroups, field (route, geobotanical descriptions); empirical (systematization of landscape complexes, justification according to biogeographical, landscape and complex criteria of ecocores, ecocorridors, buffer zones, etc.); camera rooms (analysis of literary and cartographic data, DZZ); general scientific (retrospective, statistical, evaluation) and special (description of vegetation according to Brown-Blancke ecological and floristic classification, geo-informational, cartographic, landscape science, methods of identifying structural elements of the eco-network and building its scheme).
