The purpose of the work is to substantiate the expediency of using physical education tools of various orientations for the purpose of correcting the component composition of body weight in students of non-specialized higher education institutions. Research methods – theoretical analysis and generalization of data from scientific and methodological sources; pedagogical methods; physiological methods (bioimpedancemetry); methods of mathematical statistics. The analysis of indicators of students' adaptability to educational activities over the last decade indicates a tendency towards a significant deterioration of the morpho-functional parameters of the body, which leads to a violation of the state of health. The intensification of the educational process and insufficient financial security, which leads to the need to combine study and work, have a negative effect on the health of students; unhealthy diet; spread of bad habits among students. In accordance with the Bologna Convention, there is a transition to new models of education in Ukraine, curriculums, forms of organization of classes, criteria for knowledge assessment are significantly changing, new pedagogical technologies and standards are being developed and implemented. Education in higher education institutions is becoming more complex in terms of form and content. The majority of students who enter higher education institutions are usually exposed to a number of problems, the first of which is the problem of adaptation to the conditions of the educational process.
