The parameters of hydrogen plasma flows (energy density varied in the range (0.1-1.2 MJ/m2) were close to those expected in the divertory flows of the fusion reactor DEMO. In particular, for the first time, the formation of a plasma layer in front of the surface was experimentally studied during the injection of heavy gas (Ar) along the surface of the target in the QSPA –M. Argon was injected using a special gas injector. It was shown that the presence of heavy inert gas (argon) impurities in the transition layers, leads to a significant (more than 1.5 times) reduction of the energy load on irradiated surfaces. The results will be used to improve the design of the protective structures of the fusion reactor, as well as to improve predictive models that predict damage to plasma-facing surfaces in a fusion reactor.   Product Description popup.authors Aksenov Mykola M.
