The purpose of the work is to develop new chromium-manganese alloys with high complexes of mechanical and operational properties, which are intended for the manufacture of variable parts of metallurgical and machine-building equipment. The rational compositions of the chemical composition of economical chromium-manganese alloys in the following ranges were established and substantiated: C = 2.6–3.0 %; Cr = 10.0–20.0 %; Mn = 10.0–15.0 %; Ni = 0.5–1.7 %; Si max 1.3 %; V max 0.3 %; Cu max 0.3 %. It is determined that an additional increase in the complex of properties of chromium-manganese alloys can be achieved by additional introduction of molybdenum, titanium, barium and calcium in small quantities. The peculiarities of the formation of the structure, phase composition and properties of the experimental chromium-manganese alloys in the cast state are investigated. It is established that the experimental material has a higher durability, unlike a high-chromium cast iron 300Cr32Ni3Vcast and chromium-nickel alloy «nicorin». The developed chromium-manganese alloys are characterized by the lower energy intensity of the production process, and therefore, it is more technological in terms of achieving the required overheating temperature, subsequent casting into forms and crystallization. The results of the conducted studies are highly likely to suggest that further development of effective modes of heat treatment of the proposed chromium-manganese alloys will increase the operational stability of the insertion tools of the pipe rolling mill while reducing the material costs for their manufacture. Particular attention in the development of heat treatment modes should be paid to the creation of metastable structures that are prone to decomposition and self-hardening during operation of finished products.
