Aim–to improve the efficiency of morphological diagnosis of pulmonary nodules by work out a rational algorithm for morphological examination. Methods–histological, cytological, radiological, statistic. It was found, that the frequency of solitary pulmonary nodules among in patients of a highly specialized phthisiopulmonological institution over 5 years was 1,3%. The average age of the patients is 52,0±0,7 years. The pathology spectrum of such nodules was determined: malignant tumors was in 37,7%, inflammatory nodules accounted for 32,6 %, benign tumors – 18,8%, nodules of vascular origin –4,6%, others – 1,0 %, the nature of the nodules not determined in 5,3% of cases. 3 options for medical management of patients with nodules and their distribution were established: only diagnostics was in 52 (14,6±1,7)%; diagnostics and surgical treatment–45(12,6 ±1,6)%; surgical resection with a diagnostic and therapeutic purpose–259(72,8±2,4)% of cases. 91 cytological and 100 histological examinations of biopsies were carried out in cases of minimally invasive procedures, the percentage of non-informative samples in cytological examination was 34,1%, in histological examination–6,1%. 114 cytological and 307 histological examinations of operative material were conducted, non-informative samples in cytological examination accounted for 9,3%, in the histological examination – 100% effectiveness was achieved. The overall diagnostic efficiency of the cytological examination of pulmonary nodules was 65,7%, and the histological–was 93,9%. The frequency and diagnostic features of solitary malignant pulmonary nodules and their histological type among all solitary pulmonary nodules in a phthisiopulmonological patients were determined which contributes to clarifying the diagnosis and choosing of further treatment tactics for patients with this pathology.
