The place of the field experiment - the work on the task is carried out in the conditions of the Ingulets irrigated massif. It has been established that the variant of irrigation water quality formation - "Washing of the Ingulets River from the Karachuniv Reservoir during the growing season" ensures the formation of water quality of the II class "limitedly suitable" during the growing season. When implementing a new option for shaping the water quality of the Ingulets irrigation system – washing from above for the entire irrigation period (rejection of the “anti-river”), when applied, a stable and satisfactory water quality is formed in the irrigation source of the Ingulets River throughout the entire growing season by constant water releases of satisfactory quality from the Karachuniv Reservoir in the period from April 15 to September 15 with a volume of at least 190 million m3 and a consumption of at least 12 m3/s with adjustments depending on the climatic and weather conditions of the year. Based on the results of the study, the peculiarities of the formation of water quality in the Ingulets main canal at different historical stages of the technical development of the Ingulets irrigation system, their influence on the meliorative regime of irrigated agricultural landscapes were determined. Basic information was obtained regarding the features of the technology of water quality formation in the Ingulets River, water supply and water distribution in the Ingulets irrigation system.
