The purpose of the research work is to develop the concept and methodology of reliable forecasting of critical load values and (or) limit (destructive) values of the stress-strain state parameters of heterogeneous shell elements of structures, in particular, tanks, dry compartments of launch vehicles, etc. without carrying out their full-scale destructive tests, as well as building new models, methods and algorithms for determining the rational parameters of complex shell structures to reduce their material consumption. Mathematical modeling, finite element analysis and experimental methods were used. The results of the research are: a computer simulation method of the process of influence of deviations of input data from their design values ​​on the accumulation of errors of calculation results using data of non-destructive experimental research and elements of sensitivity theory; the results of systematic experimental studies of the influence of the size of a circular or square hole on the critical strength of loss of stability of longitudinally compressed fiberglass cylindrical shells; the results of a comparative numerical and experimental study of the destruction of models of longitudinally stretched circular cylindrical shells weakened by randomly located and oriented rectilinear transverse cuts-cracks; graphs of temperature dependence on stress intensity. The obtained results are new, correspond to the world level and can be used to substantiate the reliability of the results of numerical analysis without conducting destructive tests of complex structures.
