The object of the research is to carry out the classification of spacecraft using the developed methodology for determining the purpose and classification of spacecraft. The purpose of the work is the search and research of approaches for obtaining the characteristics by which the spacecraft classification will be carried out, the search for the characteristics of the spacecraft classification, the development of the methodology for determining the purpose of the spacecraft. The research method is the search and research of approaches to obtain the characteristics by which the spacecraft classification will be carried out. At the moment, there are about seven thousand active space vehicles of various purposes and state ownership operating in space around the Earth. Among them are about a thousand DZZ KAs, and even more about four thousand telecommunication KAs. In the scientific and special technical literature, various names and definitions of such space vehicles are used, which causes their ambiguous interpretation. Currently, there is no normatively determined classification of space vehicles (systems). In the scientific and technical literature, the classification of spacecraft is often used only according to certain characteristics. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop a classification of spacecraft from unified methodological positions according to all characteristics, which has not only terminological, but also scientific and technical significance. The classification of space vehicles (systems) is their division into classes (subclasses, groups) based on the commonality of homogeneous essential features (properties), which records the regular relationships between classes of systems in the relevant field of knowledge.
