The purpose of the work of the first stage of research is to determine the main types of man-made accidents, in which it is necessary to carry out an assessment of dangerous substances and substances that may pose a threat and to conduct an analysis of the recommendations of the EU Directives in the field of nature management. The research method is a complex of general scientific (analysis, synthesis, comparison, generalization) methods. At the first stage of this work, it was determined: the main types of man-made accidents in Ukraine that lead to emergency situations; an analysis of man-made accidents that lead to emergency environmental situations was carried out; an analysis of the directives of the European Parliament and the Council on the prevention of serious accidents involving hazardous substances (Seveso III) and the directives that set requirements for the handling of hazardous substances during man-made accidents was carried out; Implementation of work results will allow: - identify man-made accidents that lead to emergency environmental situations; - identify requirements for handling dangerous substances during man-made accidents.
