The goal of the research is to create highly productive early-ripening and medium-ripening buckwheat varieties with improved plant architecture resistant to stressful conditions. Research methods are field, laboratory, comparative-descriptive, measuring-weighing, inbreeding, polycross test, interspecies hybridization, mass and individual selection. Research results - 21 plants (breeding sample) with a very high seed weight - 7.2-18.7 g/plant were selected for individual selection. The most productive elite plants were singled out according to index indicators: nine with a high seeding index (ОЗ.ІІІ) and six with an index of individual seed productivity (ІИНП). In the competitive test of 8 breeding numbers, Olga and Ukrainka had a significant advantage over standards k-10, k-5, k-7 and k-14 at the 5% level of significance. In the preliminary variety test, three selection samples: n-5 and n-14 provided a significant advantage over the standard variety Olga and Ukrainka in terms of yield. In the control nursery, four (577, 576, 571 and 569) most productive hybrid combinations were selected according to the level of the total combining ability of the mother components, which exceeded the standards of Olga and Ukrainka in terms of productivity.
