The effectiveness of doxycycline as a FS was experimentally confirmed on the cultures of A. israelii and P. melaninogenica. The result of photodynamic inactivation (PDI) of microorganisms is shown experimentally. A reliable delay in the growth of cultures of microorganisms after the combined effect of irradiation and FS, compared to the control, was shown after 12 hours of cultivation of the microbial suspension and the preservation of this phenomenon throughout the observation period, i.e. up to 48 hours (p < 0.05). In order to increase the effectiveness of the PDI of anaerobic periodontopathogenic pathogens, experiments were conducted on the introduction of a natural photosensitizer - hypericin into the composition. As a source of additional photosensitizer, a standardized alcoholic extract of St. John's wort (Hypericum perforatum L.) containing hypericin in a concentration of at least 0.08% (which is achieved when its content is 800 μg in 1 g of dry herb) is used. The developed composition for the PDI of anaerobic periodontopathogenic pathogens due to the use of hypericin in combination with another photosensitizer doxycycline provides photoinactivation independent of the presence of oxygen, increases the quality of inactivation in anaerobic conditions and reduces the effective dose of hypericin, and accordingly, the likelihood of side effects Product Description popup.authors Voronkina Iryna A.
