In order to ensure the asymmetry of the two-module electric machine with PM, a new Н–Н-shaped configuration of the AEV powertrain system with hybrid AB-SC power supply is proposed. In addition to significantly smaller ripple of the total electromagnetic torque of the modular BLDC motor, this structure ensures long-term operation of the drive at high speeds due to the possibility of charging the SC-module during operation from one of the ABs. Mock up samples of the Li-Ion AB, SC-modules, transistor voltage inverters and modular three-phase PMSMs with external and internal rotors have been created. In the latter case, a universal multi-module PMSM was designed according to the developed methodology, which can be switched to 2, 3 or 4 three-phase modules of an asymmetric configuration with an optimal angular displacement between the modules. Based on the created mock-up samples, a number of proposed configurations of AEV modular powertrain systems were compiled and experimentally investigated. The conducted experimental studies of these configurations fully confirmed their operability, as well as the effectiveness of the developed algorithms for commutation of the armature windings of modular BLDC motor and energy management of power supply modules. As a result of the work, it was concluded that the most energy-efficient and highly reliable AEVs can be built by combining the modularity of on-board power systems with the modularity of electric machines and combining these subsystems with joint systems of power semiconductor converters of various topologies with an increased number of degrees of freedom, thanks to which it is possible to implement multi-purpose AEV control.
