MT Rylsky National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2 The main goal of the scientific work is to replenish the factual basis of the history of ancient and modern fine art of Ukraine, to strengthen the theoretical and methodological knowledge base of the domestic art science. The methodological basis of the work is a systematic, comprehensive approach to the study of the artistic heritage of Ukraine, which involves the involvement of actual material from related sciences: history, cultural studies, art theory, folkloristics, statistics, production technology. In the process of research, the historical-comparative method will be applied in diachronic and synchronous dimensions; when working with specific monuments - methods of factography, systematization, art analysis, in particular formal-typological and iconographic. Specific tasks of the research arise from the outlined goal. In particular, one of the main tasks consists in the comprehensive study of Ukrainian works of monumental and easel imagery (within the end of the 10th - the beginning of the 21st centuries), through the prism of European and / or Asian artistic reception and cultural influences, as well as in drawing a complete picture of the genesis of imagery and semantics, trace their artistic and stylistic evolution. The relevance of the topic first of all arises from the general problems of the current state of national art history, which, on the one hand, consists in the need to enrich the actual, documentary base of the object of research - ancient and modern art of Ukraine, and on the other hand - in the obvious need to rethink outdated paradigms, reevaluate previous ones conclusions regarding individual phenomena of artistic life, as well as some personalities, their role and place in the history of domestic and world art.
