The purpose of the study: to improve the method of selection of breeding material of common bean Phaseolus vulgaris L. according to adaptability indicators and to create a high-yielding variety suitable for mechanized harvesting. The main methods of research: hybridization, selection, field and laboratory research, production testing, statistical analysis. The main results of the work. Selection numbers 767-19 and 759-20, which significantly exceeded the standards in terms of productivity by 30 and 25%, respectively, with the duration of the vegetation period at the level of the standards, were the best in the competitive variety test for a set of traits.In the preliminary variety test, promising selection numbers for further study were selected: 761-20, 846-21, 769-20, 779-21, 754-21, 800-21, 865-21, 832-22, 834-22, which exceeded the standards for the level of productivity with the duration of the vegetation period of about 110 days. Lines and numbers exceeding the standards for grain yield and quality, disease resistance, and meeting the basic requirements for mechanized harvesting were selected in the control and selection nurseries. The creation of new breeding material and its study continued. Artificial crosses were carried out on 30 hybrid combinations, possible hybrid seeds were obtained from some of them. In the F1 hybrid nursery, offspring from 17 hybrid combinations created in the previous year were studied. True hybrids of 8 of them were identified by marker traits. In the F2 hybrid nursery, offspring from 6 hybrid combinations were studied. The best plants in terms of breeding were selected for further study in the next year.
