The aim of the work is to establish the relationship between the elemental, phase, stress-strain state, thermal stability, mechanical and tribological properties of nanostructured protective nitride coatings, and the influence of technological parameters of deposition. The research includes a wide range of experimental methods, namely: cathodic arc vapor deposition, scanning and transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, measurement of micro-and nanohardness and wear resistance. The main result is the preliminary calculations and comprehensive experimental study of structural and substructural dependences of nitride single- and multilayer films based on Ti, Zr, Hf, Nb, V, Al, Y, Si, Mo were performed. It was found that vacancy defects are the dominant defect type in nitride coatings based on high-entropy alloys. The scientific novelty of the results is that for the first time, nitride coatings based on high-entropy alloys of refractory metals before and after irradiation with Xe14+ ions of high energy 200 MeV were studied. They demonstrated high hardness (33 GPa), low coefficient of friction (0.49) and wear rate (9.71 × 10-6 mm3m-1H-1). The experiments allowed us to investigate in more detail the nature of the formation mechanisms of radiation defects and the effect of radiation on the defective structure of multi-element protective coatings. The obtained method of synthesizing high-entropy nitride coatings based on refractory metals with a homogeneous structure and improved physical and mechanical properties can be used in further applied studies to extend the service life of metal tools operating in high temperatures, speeds, and loads, as well as for high milling Product Description popup.authors Andriienko Liudmyla O.
