Registration Date 06-02-2023 Organization Institute of Social and Political Psychology of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2 The explanatory principles of intergroup interaction are defined, namely: overcoming uncertainty through the identification of "friend or foe"; subject-object attitude of participants to each other; flexibility of group behavior as a balancing between different goals and expectations of groups, as a balancing of the value of ingroup and intergroup interaction for group members. In accordance with these principles, defined as cognitive, value-regulatory, and behavioral-balancing, the main mechanisms of interaction are identified: identification, attribution, and social representation, which are based on a number of sub-mechanisms of stereotyping, bias, social categorization and reference, group defense mechanisms, and expressive visibility. The manifestation of mechanisms of mapping and historicization of intergroup interaction as its territorial and historical dimensions is confirmed empirically and based on historical and psychological phenomenological analysis: differentiation of groups in the space of interaction, structuring the field of intergroup interaction in accordance with the identity of groups, delineation of group boundaries, historical antecedents of prejudice and genesis of collective trauma, restoration of historical justice based on the memory of groups and their consolidation. War is defined as an extreme form of intergroup interaction, in which the boundaries of group interaction are restructured, group identity is crystallized, and various types of territorial identity are consolidated or disintegrated. Accordingly, the actions of groups in the field of intergroup interaction are built as a symbolic and cultural distinction, asymmetry of interaction according to the mechanism of causal attribution: distancing a peaceful group from a hostile group and bringing the latter closer to a peaceful group, trying to unite with it in the field of culture, history, language, art, science.
