The object of research is commercial and synthesized samples of various types of electrode materials. The purpose of the work is to develop the physico-chemical principles of lithium-to-sodium exchange reactions in sodium-ion current sources. Research methods – X-ray phase analysis, energy dispersive spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, porometry, impedance spectroscopy, voltammetry, galvanostatic cycling method. A cycle of research aimed at creating prerequisites for the use of existing electrode materials for lithium-ion systems in sodium-ion batteries and establishing thermodynamic and kinetic differences in the processes of intercalation/deintercalation of lithium and sodium ions was carried out. For this, commercial samples were used and a number of electrode materials of different structure, morphology, discharge/charge voltage were synthesized, and the influence of their physicochemical parameters on differences in thermodynamics and kinetics of electrochemical processes in lithium and sodium batteries was determined. The effectiveness of the use of electrode materials under investigation in sodium-ion current sources, or used for lithium-ion systems, provided that their structural and morphological characteristics are optimized, is shown.
