The analysis of the propagation of optical waves in dichroic media with a topological defect in the orientation of the optical indicatrix and linear dichroism was carried out, the materials for research were selected and the absorption spectra and dichroism in liquid crystals were studied. It was shown that the effect of linear dichroism leads to the generation of singular optical vector-vortex beams in axially inhomogeneous optical birefringent materials. A systematic analysis of liquid crystal (LC) textures with a non-homogeneous configuration of the field of director and azimuthal singularities was carried out for their application for the generation of vector and scalar optical vortex beams. It was shown that a fork-shaped topological defect in the orientation of the LC molecules must be created in the cell for the generation of a scalar singular vortex beam. At the same time, the LC cell must be made of light-absorbing and dichroic LC to generate a composite vector beam. Collinear acousto-optic interaction in the mode of reflection of optical and acoustic vector beams in centrosymmetric crystals with cubic symmetry was analyzed. It was shown that the mentioned interaction can lead to the appearance of a diffracted elliptical vector optical beam, which under certain conditions can be transformed into a cylindrical vector beam. For the first time, a general rule for the summation of polarization orders of acousto-optically interacting vector beams was formulated. A new approach to the fusion of visible and infrared images is proposed, which is based on the analogy between the mathematical forms of the Jones vector for an elliptically polarized light wave and the complex two-dimensional vector describing the visible and infrared images. The possibility of synthesis of a merged image in dynamic mode was shown.
