Kavetsky Institute of Experimental Pathology, Oncology and Radiobiology National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2  The atypical expression of the CD90 and CD123 antigens of leukemic stem cells (LSC) as well as CD36 antigens of myeloid lineage (ML) was analyzed in the samples of peripheral blood and bone marrow of 66 patients with various forms of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. The weak expression of CD90 and CD123 was revealed in 27 and 18% of marginal zone lymphoma (LMZ) samples, respectively. In the samples of mantle cell lymphoma (MCL), only single cells expressed LSC antigens. Cells of LMZ and MCL expressed CD36 practically in all analyzed cases. In all samples of LMZ and MCL, the high expression of CD147 was revealed. The findings of the expression of LSC and ML antigens on a small fraction of cells in non-Hodgkin lymphoma could be important for understanding the biological heterogeneity of lymphoproliferative diseases. For the first time, the ubiquitous pattern of CD147 in NHL has been proved. The atypical mixed cell variant of CLL is characterized by more frequent expression of CD38 while CD150 and CD180 expression was absent. For the first time, the predominance of the soluble sCD150 isoform was demonstrated in the atypical CLL contrary to the typical CLL wherein transmembrane mCD150 isoform dominates. These findings could be useful for forecasting the prognosis of the disease course and selecting the personalized treatment options for CLL patients as early as at the stage of the diagnostic examinations.
