The genotype, which includes allele C, is associated with a later age of manifestation and is protective against the aggressive course of the disease. The developed technique of molecular genetic analysis proved to be effective for conducting research in patients with familial and sporadic cases of keratoconus. It was established that in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) and DED with corneal damage in the form of punctate keratopathy, the level of the marker of neutrophil activation (CD15) was significantly higher (46.7%), compared to patients with T2DM and DED in which the cornea was intact (mean indicator - 28.5%, p=0.0001). The obtained data show that the CD15 expression level on peripheral blood neutrophils can be used for predicting the risk of developing corneal damage in patients with dry eye disease in T2DM. The proposed combined method of photodynamic therapy in combination with corneal collagen crosslinking has an antimicrobial effect on Candida albicans (CA) and Fusarium spp (FS) in an in vitro experiment, which is confirmed by the delay in the growth zone of these pathogens.
