Purpose: to study the theory, history and practice of social development of different categories of persons in the conditions of transformational changes in Ukrainian society. Methods: theoretical: analysis of scientific literature in order to determine the state of development of the problem, reveal the main definitions and determine the categorical and conceptual apparatus of the study; generalization and systematization of scientific and theoretical provisions for revealing the genesis and socio-pedagogical foundations of social development of various social groups, justification and development of socio-pedagogical technologies of social development; empirical: diagnostic (questionnaires, interviews, conversation; testing, ranking; study of activity products; method of expert evaluation), observational (observation, reflection of one's own activity) to determine the levels of sociality of different categories of persons, study of the dynamics of the development of the sociality of an individual in the social environment; a pedagogical experiment with the aim of determining the effectiveness of well-founded developments; methods of mathematical statistics for processing the received data. The results of the study were adapted to the level of methodological recommendations for employees of the school's psychological service, in particular social pedagogues; social workers; workers of rehabilitation and residential institutions, educators.
