The impact of modern environmental changes on the population of high-altitude plant species in the Ukrainian Carpathians is shown on the example of species of different coenotic periods: meadow, hygrophytic, chionophilic (Geum montanum, Senecio carpaticus, Pedicularis verticillata, Salix herbacea). The population dynamics of rare tall grass species are shown using the example of Achillea lingulata. The effect of frost on the population of rare high-altitude plant species was studied. The current state and prospects of plant populations in the subalpine belt are established using the example of Pinus cembra and Dactylis slovenica under demutation conditions. The indicator parameters of Rhodiola rosea populations under unfavorable habitat changes were revealed. The seed propagation of Achillea lingulata and Centaurea kotschyana and the factors limiting it were studied. The dynamics of Symphytum cordatum populations at the upper and north-eastern limits of distribution are described. Climatogenic threats to the populations of chionophilic phytocenoses have been determined. The trends of changes in the spatial structure of the populations of rare species of planktonic crustaceans Daphnia obtusa, Mixodiaptomus tatricus, Chydorus sphaericus and Acanthocyclops vernalis in the highlands of the Chornohora massif were established. Current threats to the loss of populations of amphibians of the Red Book of Ukraine - Lissotriton montandoni, Ichtyosaura alpestris and Bombina variegata - have been revealed. Measures of passive and active preservation of populations of rare species have been developed to avoid loss of biodiversity under modern natural and anthropogenic habitat changes.
