Using femtosecond laser irradiation with a wavelength of 800 nm, as well as second (400 nm) and third (266 nm) laser harmonics, micro- and nano-structuring of the surface of n-doped silicon was achieved. The highest quality structuring of LIPSS was obtained on the surface of sapphire, which is transparent to the visible range of the spectrum. With the development and comprehensive application of laser treatment of various surfaces with femtosecond pulses, the characteristics of LIPSS treated sapphire orientation surfaces were investigated in this paper. The work also investigated the self-diffraction of two coherent light waves that record a holographic grating in thin films of azobenzene-containing molecular glass-forming materials. It has been established that the basis of grating recording is the Kerr optical nonlinearity associated with photoinduced mass transfer. The impact of light irradiation on the details of the photosynthesis process is considered, which is an urgent problem for establishing the spectrum of action of UV photons that initiate the production of previtamin D in human skin. The research analyzed the passage of a short pulse in a system of two transparent prisms with a gap between them, which forms a waveguide. The conditions for the appearance of the forerunning effect have been established. The formation of an anticipatory jet in the waveguide is shown.
