The subject of the research: the legal principles of regulating family relations in the context of the European integration of Ukraine, as well as the recodification of the Civil Code of Ukraine. The purpose of the research work: solving an important scientific problem regarding the selection of the optimal model for the regulation of family relations for Ukraine, taking into account the experience of EU member states, national specificities and the recodification of the Civil Code, as well as the development of a corresponding draft law on improving the regulation of family relations in the context of the European integration of Ukraine. Research methods: systemic-structural, historical, legal hermeneutics, comparative-legal, formal-dogmatic, as well as methods of analysis, synthesis and forecasting. Results and their novelty: a thorough comparative study of approaches to the regulation of family relations in the EU states was carried out, as well as appropriate proposals for the improvement of national family legislation were developed, taking into account the modern trends of the Europeanization of private law, the recodification of the Civil Code and the European integration of Ukraine. As a result of the work, new scientific knowledge was obtained, in particular, regarding: theoretical and methodological approaches to understanding the place of family law in the system of private law of the EU and Ukraine; approaches to legal regulation of family relations in EU countries; peculiarities and differences of the legal regulation of the main family law institutions in the EU countries and in Ukraine; activities of the European Commission on Family Law regarding the unification of the main principles of European family law.
