The subject of the research is the requirements of legal acts, regulatory documents, national and international practices described by relevant standards and publications regarding the requirements for filtering personal respiratory protection equipment for the population in emergency situations. The purpose of the research is to harmonize the requirements for filtering personal respiratory protection equipment in emergency situations and to develop a national standard. Personal respiratory protection equipment (hereinafter referred to as PPE) should ensure the purification of the air inhaled by humans (the population and personnel of civil defense formations) from chemical warfare agents, hazardous chemical, radioactive substances and biological pathological agents, the concentration of which in the air exceeds the maximum permissible levels in case of emergencies, including military ones. Filtering PPE must meet the requirements of the national standard. However, there is no such standard in Ukraine today. Therefore, the preparation of a national standard to regulate the general technical requirements for filtering PPE for the population and personnel of civil defense units in the face of threats and occurrences of emergencies and armed conflicts is relevant. The developed standard is intended to be used by organizations and enterprises engaged in the design and manufacture of personal protective equipment, executive authorities, local governments, organizations and enterprises that provide the population with these means in emergency situations and during the elimination of their consequences, territorial bodies and subordinate units of the SES of Ukraine, institutions and organizations involved in the organization and implementation of civil protection tasks.
