Karazin Kharkiv National University popup.description2  Relevance. At this time, negative trends in the physical development of children and adolescents have been identified in Ukraine: the problem of overweight is becoming more and more important, since overweight is a predictor of obesity in adulthood, an increase in the level of chronic somatic morbidity and mortality. Object of the research is 277 schoolchildren aged 10-14 (125 boys and 152 girls). The aim of the research is to assess the level of the physical development of schoolchildren and to determine the most informative approach from the point of view of determining risk groups in terms of nutritional status impairment. Materials and methods. We have conducted a general medical examination of 277 schoolchildren aged 10-14 (125 boys and 152 girls) according to the corresponding anthropometric parameters, Quetelet’s weight-to-height index, Vervek-Vorontsov index, methods of caliperometry and bioimpedancmetry with their further assessment according to the international and national standards. Statistically the data are processed in the licensed packet IBM SPSS Statistics v. 22, using the t-test and Generalized Linear Models. Based on the study, somatometric and physiometric parameters of physical development were determined using anthropometric indicators, the Quetelet’s index (BMI) and Vervek index, caliperometry methods, as well as body composition using bioimpedance measurements. A comprehensive assessment of the level of physical development as one of the indicators of the child's nutritional status was carried out. A comparative analysis of physical development by gender and age characteristics among schoolchildren has been carried out. Keywords: children and adolescents; physical development; body mass index; caliperometry; bioimpedancemetry. Product Description popup.authors Havrylova Tetiana V. popup.nrat_date 2023-07-19 Close
