Research methods – Model development and testing will be carried out in the Visual Studio environment using modern numerical methods. The quality of the obtained results will be evaluated by comparing them with the corresponding measurement data. In the report, new results obtained in the study are given. In particular, for the first time the dependence of distribution coefficient Kd on the concentration of ammonium nitrogen [NH4] for 137Cs is considered. This dependence is included into the three-dimensional numerical model THREETOX, which consists of models of thermos-hydrodynamics, ecodynamics, suspended sediments transport and transport of radionuclides. Seasonal changes in water quality parameters for the Kyiv Reservoir under current meteorological and hydrological conditions were calculated, as well as the transfer of radioactive contamination during the hypothetical operation of dredging machines was modelled. The obtained results outlined directions for further development of the model. Its application will allow to simulate water quality parameters in the Kyiv Reservoir in various natural conditions with and without artificial contamination, while combination with the radionuclide transport model will provide scientifically based estimates of radioactive contamination of the reservoir. This complex mathematical model can be used as a tool for simulation water quality parameters in the Kyiv Reservoir and for realization scenarios for changing its ecological and radiological balance.
