The hopper and the feeder are often decisive in the mixing complex, because they depend on its performance, the nature of the medium and the homogeneity of the mixture. The method of discrete elements is used to study the nature of the motion of the bulk medium and the influence of physical and mechanical properties of particles and design parameters of the hopper and feeder. Mathematical dependences of the process of bulk materials movement are determined, which determine the productivity of the hopper and the feeder in the technological process of preparation of compositions from bulk materials. Based on the results of research, it is possible to predict the performance of the mixing complex and create an automated control system for the complex as a whole and its individual elements.
