Object of study: the center of Chernihiv. The purpose of the study is to determine the modifications of the historical territories of Chernihiv in the context of historical, cultural, and social discourse; to determine the features of immovable objects and related movable monuments; to determine the influence of Chernihiv's architecture and to determine its significance. The research methods used are historiographical analysis to clarify the achievements of previous generations of researchers, to specify the object of study; problematic and chronological analysis to organize historical facts, reconstruct the sequence of historical events; historical and comparative analysis to establish common and distinctive features of architectural monuments in the center of Chernihiv and other regions, and to outline the architectural face of the city. As a result of the archaeological, architectural, and art history research, factual material was accumulated, which made it possible to clarify and supplement the existing information on the development of the historic center of Chernihiv in different periods, and created grounds for adjusting the available information on the decoration of religious and civil buildings, movable and immovable monuments under the protection of the reserve. The collected and processed materials formed the basis of scientific publications by the reserve's staff, were presented in reports at scientific forums of various levels, and were used to modernize the museum exposition, the content of excursions, and outreach materials.
