Taking into account the results of DTA and XRD, the technological regimes for single crystals growth and ceramic materials fabrication from micro- and nanocrystalline powders were developed close to optimal. The particle size distribution of nanocrystalline powders was studied. The features of the microstructure of ceramic materials made from micro- and nanocrystalline powders are considered. The electrical, optical, and mechanical parameters of single crystals and ceramics (with different values of average crystallite sizes) made on the basis of solid solutions of Ag6+x(P1-xGex)S5I were measured. The main structural parameters of Ag6+x(P1-xGex)S5I solid solutions were determined using the Rietveld X-ray diffraction analysis, the mechanism of their formation and the effect of crystal structure disorder on the change of electrical and optical parameters were established. On the basis of the results of structural studies by the density functional theory method, the stability of crystal structures and band structure were calculated and the nature of chemical bonding was determined. The influence of structural and microstructural features of ceramic materials on changes in their electrical and mechanical parameters is explained and discussed.
