Bogatsky National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2 Objects of research – glycerol, N-hydroxyphthalimides, glycerol oxidation products. Aim of work – development scientific basis complex of organocatalytic methods for glycerol oxidation and its derivatives with oxygen into products with high added value. Study effect of structure potential organocatalysts (N-hydroxyimides) and reaction conditions on composition of glycerol oxidation products and its derivatives. Optimization and regulation selectivity and depth of oxidation processes. Research methods: gas chromatography, spectrophotometry, potentiometry, IR spectroscopy. Method of obtaining 3- and 4-nitrophthalic acids also 4-tert-butylphthalic acid in state free from its salts has been optimized. Structure and purity of all synthesized compounds were proven by methods of thin-layer and gas-liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry and NMR spectroscopy. Catalytic activity N-hydroxyphthalimide (NHPI) with additions of acetate and cobalt(II) acetylacetonate as co-catalysts in reaction of liquid-phase glycerol oxidation in acetonitrile and acetic acid was studied. It was established that reaction main products are glyceraldehyde (GlA), tartronic acid (TA) and glyceric acid (GA). Thus, at an air consumption of 60 cm3/min at 40°C, GlA, TA, and GA are formed with yield 4.3%, 8.8%, and 25.7%, respectively. When increasing oxygen consumption to 300 cm3/min and increasing temperature to 45oC, GlA, TA and GA are formed with yields 5.0%, 6.2% and 29.5%, respectively. Catalytic activity and selectivity of NHPI and 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidin-1-yl)oxyl (TEMPO) with additions of acetate and cobalt(II) acetylacetonate in reaction of liquid-phase glycerol oxidation with molecular oxygen in acetonitrile were investigated. It was found that in presence of TEMPO with addition twice amount of cobalt(II) acetate, rate of reacted oxygen increases almost 1.5 times and is higher than for NHPI, despite the fact that concentration of latter is 2 times greater and co-catalyst content is grea  Product Description popup.authors Davtian Araksia S.
