The predominant global trend of growing rice using flood (irrigated) cultivation technologies has been established - at the level of 90% of cultivation areas. It has been proven that the reduction of the state's dependence on the foreign market and the increase in prices on it can be leveled at the expense of differentiating the development and implementation of technological solutions based on the technologies of dryland and estuarine rice farming. Systematized types of irrigation systems, including drip irrigation systems in the south of Ukraine as the most economical and ecological method of growing rice. It is substantiated that the problem of growing rice according to traditional technologies is connected not only with a large amount of water, which is used to maintain the necessary water regime, but also, first of all, with the negative environmental impact that the flooding of the rice field has on the environment. Therefore, the main attention should be paid to the economic and ecological justification of alternative methods of rice cultivation (drip irrigation), which is based on a deep understanding of the physiological and anatomical processes of the life of rice plants in combination with the physical and chemical processes occurring in the soil under the influence of drip irrigation. The theoretical foundations of effective rice farming are based on the methodological provisions of taking into account the peculiarities of production in agriculture and in the industry itself, the interaction of production efficiency and the competitiveness of rice and its processing products, the system of economic interests of the state, producers and consumers of its products in the process of their production, exchange, distribution and consumption .
