Purpose - to identify sunflower lines - pollen fertility restorers with altered contents of tocopherol isomers in combination with other valuable economic characteristics. Methods - field, laboratory, statistical. The donor capacities of parental lines of hybrids have been determined for characteristics of seeds and seed quality indicators. Inbred sunflower generations (I4) and populations (I1-I2) have been derived from hybrid combinations involving 32 new sunflower lines with increased contents of tocopherol isomers; in their pedigrees, there are self-pollinated lines from a working collection and donors of high total content of tocopherols. Thirty hybrid populations of a new generation (I2) with genetic determinants of resistance to downy mildew and broomrape have been investigated. The new lines are resistant to downy mildew, contain an increased level of γ- tocopherol, and show high antioxidant activity of 47.05-62.00%, which is significantly higher than that in the check accession, Kh X 720 V (39.71%). The scientific and methodological guidelines "Methodical Fundamentals of Creation of Sunflower Lines with Increased Contents of Tocopherol Isomers" have been developed. New trends in sunflower breeding for increased contents of vitamin E, α-, β-, γ- and δ-tocopherols, and increased antioxidant activity, are presented.
