Registration Date 04-01-2024 Organization State Institution "National Research Centre For Radiation Medicine of National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine" popup.description2  The object of study is the clinical-hematological, immunogenetic, and molecular-genetic characteristics of plasma cell myeloma (PCM). The aim of the work is to determine the distribution of polymorphic variants of cytokine genes (TNF-α, TGF-β1, IL-6, IL-10, IFN-γ), some parameters of the degree of bone tissue damage and the regenerative potential of bone marrow at different stages of PCM in patients affected by the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident. Research methods include clinical, molecular-genetic, immunogenetic, and statistical approaches. The study involved the distribution of polymorphic variants of cytokine genes (TNF-α, TGF-β1, IL-6, IL-10, IFN-γ) and the nature of cytokine balance considering the disease stage and radiation history, in relation to indicators of bone tissue status and fibroblast colony-forming activity - in total 85 patients, including 38 patients with a history of exposure to radiation. The studies did not confirm the significant importance of alkaline phosphatase levels, blood serum calcium, 25-dihydroxyvitamin D3, parathyroid hormone as prognostic criteria for the effectiveness of specific therapy, but confirmed the individual diagnostic significance of these parameters at different treatment stages. The assessment of the degree of bone tissue damage indicated the emergence of new osteolytic lesions exclusively at the stage of PCM progression and was not dependent on the comparison group, which indicates a fact of the absence of the radiation component's influence on the formation of this complication in the long term. The activity of fibroblast colony formation may be significant as a prognostic criterion for the regenerative potential of bone marrow in patients with PCM. In irradiated patients with PCM, there is a significant difference in the degree of cytokine imbalance in the group of irradiated patients, confirming the certain significance of the radiation component in the pathogenesis of the disease Implementation: 1 article Product Description popup.authors Balan Valentyna V Dmytrenko Olena Oleksandrivna Silayev Yurii Olegovich popup.nrat_date 2024-01-04 Close
