Registration Date 10-01-2024 Organization National Scientific Center «Institute for Soil Science and Agrochemistry Research named after O. N. Sokolovsky» popup.description2  Object of research is the quality of war-damaged soils, their military degradation. Purpose is to develop methodical approaches, to perform a remote and field survey of the soil cover and digital mapping of the impact of hostilities on the chernozems of the territorial community. Research methods - remote (use of space images), field, analytical, camera, system analysis of the obtained results, abstract-logical, monographic, cartographic. Theoretical results - a methodology for assessing the impact of hostilities on chernozem soils, which includes scientific and methodological principles for the identification and assessment of military degradation of chernozems; assessment of: the negative impact of hostilities on soil fertility and health, irrigated soils, and irrigation water quality; damage and losses caused to soils and lands as a result of armed aggression and hostilities; degree of violation by hostilities of the FAO Guidelines for Sustainable Soil Management. Practical results – soil map of the Chkalov settlement united territorial community according to pre-war data; map-version of the impact of hostilities on the ground cover of the community. Novelty - the scale and nature of military degradation of chernozems was determined according to the methodology, which combined remote and field methods of research with the use of modern technical means and geo-information technologies; using the database of the Ukrainian Soil Information Center an assessment of the fertility of war-damaged soils was carried out; a detailed comprehensive study of soil degradation as a result of military operations and occupation was carried out. The effectiveness of the implementation of the methodology makes it possible to take into account the degree of degradation of chernozem soils and determine the damage caused to the soil by military actions. Digital map versions make it possible to objectify the areas of damaged chernozems of the Chkalovska OTG.
