A classification of methods for effectively solving the tasks of competence-oriented Ukrainian-language education is theoretically substantiated and proposed, which unites the methods into the following groups: 1) cognitive (capable of activating the cognitive activity of students, motivating them to learn new things, consolidating what they have learned, learning new phenomena, assimilating information, deepening existing knowledge, identifying educational and life problems and finding ways to solve them, etc.); 2) creative application (directing students' activities to the implementation of what they have learned in life practice; searching for situations of applying knowledge and skills in new conditions; creating various types of "products", etc.); 3) organization of cognitive activity (formulation of goals, planning of work stages; selection of methods of implementation of set goals; identification and evaluation of results, analysis of activities). The expediency of applying such a division of distance learning methods of the Ukrainian language is substantiated by the teacher's methods (learning methods), the student's methods (learning methods) and the methods of their joint activity. Modernized classical teaching methods are characterized. The cognitive and developmental potential of the methods, in particular the method of independent work with sources of information, associative, narrative, problematic, dialogic interaction, etc., is determined. An algorithm for selecting methods of competency-based learning of the Ukrainian language has been developed. Methodological recommendations have been prepared for the application of methods of competence-oriented teaching of the Ukrainian language in gymnasiums and lyceums in the conditions of martial law.
