The purpose of the study: to improve the method of selection of breeding material of common bean Phaseolus vulgaris L. according to adaptability indicators and to create a high-yielding variety suitable for mechanized harvesting. The main methods of research: hybridization, selection, field and laboratory research, production testing, statistical analysis. The main results of the work. A gene pool of beans with valuable economic traits has been created. A new source material obtained using the method of intervarietal hybridization is being studied. In the competitive variety test, selection numbers 757/19 and 767-19 were the best in terms of a set of traits, which significantly exceeded the standards in terms of productivity by 34 and 11%, respectively, with a vegetation period of up to 105 days. In the preliminary variety test, promising selection numbers for further study were selected: 707-23, 731-23, 769-23, which exceeded the standards in terms of yield level with the duration of the vegetation period at the standard level. Lines and numbers exceeding the standards for grain yield and quality, disease resistance, and meeting the basic requirements for mechanized harvesting were selected in the control and selection nurseries.
