Depending on the brand of deformed alloy, the heating temperature of the surface layers can vary from fairly moderate (400-600 °C) to high (600-950 °C) temperatures. At operating temperatures up to 600 °C, satisfactory stability of the tool is ensured in many cases when using traditional stamping steels based on α-hard solution with carbide strengthening. At a temperature of more than 600 °C during operation, the tool fails due to the low heat-resistant steel of the ferrite class. Typical representatives of these steels are steels 3Х2В8Ф, 3Х3М3Ф, 4Х4ВМФС, 5Х3В3МФ and others. The additional introduction of an alloying element (nickel) into the steel on a ferritic basis causes a decrease in the critical point A3. When expanding the region of γ-Fe modification in the steel in its initial state and when it is heated to the temperatures at which the α → γ transformation occurs, the austenite structure is preserved throughout the entire period of high-temperature operation of the stamping tool up to 950 °C. Such steels were named - steels with regulation of austenitic transformation during operation (RAPE). In the traditional approach to increasing the heat resistance of stamp steels on a ferrite basis, the temperatures of phase transformations are increased. This is the main difference between the approach to alloyed heat-resistant stamping steels on a ferritic basis and steels from RAPE. In the work, the phase composition, crystal structure and determination of mechanical properties of RAPE steel 4Kh3N5M3F and 4Kh4N5M4F2 in the cast and forged states during the development of heat treatment modes were investigated.
