The first chapter is devoted to the understanding of the urban design peculiarities that affect the aesthetic qualities of the environment. Its semiotic features are revealed. From a semiotic point of view, cities are constantly evolved because of media languages and texts that contribute to defining and rethinking the identity of urban spaces. It is shown that architecture is the first, main aspect of forming a special individual image of any city. The concept of iconic or symbolic architecture is defined. In the second chapter, some not quite traditional objects are revealed, which describe different sides of urban existence, which allow to evaluate and analyze the means of forming and maintaining the visual brand of the city.
